Hoedown tee shirts ready to go

Check out the awesome logo designed once again by Ayu Othman for the 4th annual Hoedown.  As always, Ayu has outdone herself with the Queen of the Waves presiding over our happy festival.

And many thanks again to presenting sponsor Olympic Raft & Kayak as well as our five major sponsors – Surfer Dave, Kayak Academy, Valley Surf Kayaks, University of Sea Kayaking, and Sound Bikes and Kayaks – for all their support for this year’s event. Get out, share the love, man… and buy their stuff.

On-site massage at the Hoedown!

This is only one of the two hands that will make your achin' muscles all good again at the Hoedown. Cathy promises to remove the glove... unless of course you request it...

Yep, that's right... fellow paddler, Seahawk fan, licensed massage therapist and all-around great person and good friend, Cathy Federici will give short (15 +/- minutes) massages at the Hoedown. She'll bring a tip jar and you can pay her what you want.

Thanks for stepping up, Cathy!

Sound Bikes & Kayaks is a Hoedown sponsor!

Hoedown HQ got an email today from Vicki Adams at Sound Bikes & Kayaks in Port Angeles, asking to sponsor the Hoedown. Thanks Vicki!

SBK is a very cool little shop, with Mitch & the bike tech crew always toiling on someone’s ride in the back, and Vicki working the front of the shop to get her guests into the best kayak or onto the right bike for their tastes and budget. Just a block from the harbor in downtown Port Angeles, Vicki’s place keeps it down-home and friendly with everyone who stops by.

...and two more sponsors!

Two of the top-rated kayak instruction programs in the Northwest and beyond have stepped up to support the Hoedown. Many thanks to Wayne Horodowich at University of Sea Kayaking, http://www.useakayak.org/ , for being a part of the event. If you’ve been into any real paddlin’ shop, you’ve seen Wayne’s awesome videos – “ABCs of the Surf Zone” “Capsize Recoveries & Rescue Procedures”, and newer ones on bracing and essential strokes. Wayne came out of nowhere to beat all the sea kayakers in the deFuca Downwind, so at 60 years old he’s still not to be messed with!

Also our thanks go out to George and Barb Gronseth at Kayak Academy, who teach kayaking adventure skills first hand, taking students all over local waters and to Alaska every year. Their upcoming Greenland Week will feature skills, competition and entertainment in the mode of traditional Greenland paddling, from rolling competitions to ropes techniques, to private instruction from some amazingly talented kayakers.

Thank you to our sponsors and supporters! It’s going to be a tremendous weekend!

Another sponsor -- Valley Surf Kayaks!

Many thanks to Rob Avery of Valley Sea Kayaks USA, who has agreed to sponsor the Hoedown with Valley Surf Kayaks as our second major sponsor! Rob is an awesome coach, expeditioner and adventurer who’s well known to paddlers and paddlesports business people alike. He lives the life he sells and it’s an honor to work with him. Maybe you’ll even see him on the water competing in the Hoedown!

2009 Hoedown images

Inge Watson took dozens of awesome shots last year while her husband Sean (in the red sea kayak above) was competing in the Hoedown. Sweet stuff, Inge! Check 'em out here!

First major sponsor -- Surfer Dave Agnew!

Surfer Dave Agnew, an extraordinary paddler and always an active and friendly member of the Northwest paddlin' family, has stepped up as a major sponsor of the Hoedown. Dave is your source for Mega surf kayaks, and he's always happy to let you try one out on the water.

Please show the love for Surfer Dave! Contact him through his web site at http://www.surferdave.net/ , call him at 253-222-4273, or email him at currentedge@yahoo.com.

When he's not getting you on the water in the latest, hottest gear with all the instruction you'll need to be safe and happy... Dave's out there, looking for the next awesome wave.
