Hoedown events update

Thanks to ideas from Hoedown Founder Rob Casey, we're adding a couple exciting new challenges to the 2010 Hoedown.

On Saturday the 2nd, grab your board or kayak and "scramble-start" carrying your craft across the beach and into the surf, then paddle out and around the rocky island half a mile from shore and back again. We'll have separate races for SUPs and kayaks, so if you're really tough you'll enter both races and kick some A*&!!

Sunday's judged surf events, as in 2009, will be for men and women, Open and "Masters over 40" per US Surf Kayak sanctioning guidelines. The events are as follows:

International (IC) - Finless kayaks 3-4 meters
High Performance (HP) - Sit inside kayaks under 9 ft.
Waveski - Sit on Top Kayaks, with fins.
Whitewater / Rodeo - Sit inside, finless plastic kayaks
Sit on top - plastic, finless SOT kayaks
SUP - 8-12 ft. Standup paddle boards.
Sea Kayak - Any sit inside kayak 13' or longer

Please contact Race Director Bill Walker at Ruby Creek Boathouse, 206-940-6269 or rubycreekboathouse@gmail.com , with any questions about the Hoedown.
